Staying on top!

Get your minds out of the gutter, I’m talking about activities in life. I am currently having to juggle getting a new car, remembering to read for my classes (and soon do the homework), organizing my things in the house, dealing with Daisy and the Vet (not looking good, will find out more tomorrow), and loans. I also have to call the court office everyday to see if they have me in the system yet (either I lost my ticket, or one of the dogs was nice enough to eat it) so I can find out my court date. I have been using Google’s Calendar to schedule events and will soon need to have my dry erase board put up in the office so I can remember things (and ::justin(”):: too). Life is a little hectic right now, but hopefully everything will mellow out soon. I find out tomorrow if Daisy has bone cancer and where it is located. I hope that she does not have anything and it’s just an infection, but we will find out soon enough. I also find that things I would normally want to do (read some of the CSS book, learn some ruby on and off rails, eat more) seem to be finding ways to avoid me. School is alright, and tomorrow I have to give the rental back, so I’m car-less until I purchase a vehicle (which is one of the few things that makes me happy). Time to spend some time with Daisy, in case it may be limited. For those of you who are having some problems, keep your head up, I’m trying to do the same. Adios!

Week One Over

So the first week of school is done, and I am glad.  I have accounting 2 days a week, finance 2 days a week, and macroeconomics for a night class.  None seem too terrible right now, but we really haven’t done much.  As for the coming week, my rental is due on Thursday or somewhere around there, Monday morning (tomorrow) my car is towed away, and sometime soon I need to pick out my replacement car.  There’s a football game Thursday night, and therefore my night class is cancelled and replaced with an assignment.  ::justin(”):: and I cleaned up the house a bit and got the network and office looking a little better.  We should complete it soon, so I will be happy.  The pool is done for the season, so once it’s put up, I’m sure I’m going to cry.  Well time to spend some time with my dogs, have a goodnight!

After looking at my RSS feed for the Oakland Raiders from my custom google homepage, I clicked on the link to the unread article.  Who was to be the author again, none other than Gregg himself.  I wrote an article a few weeks back stating my disdain for his words against Oklahoma women as if he personally insulted someone I knew.  Well reading this article made me feel a little better about our state and the people in it.  Here is the an exerpt from his article (at the top I may add) about his statement regarding the Tulsa Talon cheerleaders: Read the rest of this entry »

So I was trying to hurry and make it to my house to meet the adjuster and I get pulled over in a school zone.  I’m not quite sure how fast I was going, but I know it was faster than 5 mph over, which is what he wrote me for.  I thanked him for lowering it so much and he informed me I still had to go to court.  That sucks, but it’s a good trade off.  So I get home, and the adjuster is here, and we go about looking at my car.  He puts how much it would cost to replace just 1 door, and that was around $900.  This was about 45% of what the average cost of my car is worth.  He said he was just going to stop since he still had another door, the back panel of the car, and the middle of the frame.  Then he informed me he would take off for the “hail” damage and the cracked windshield.  He also told me that half of my car was in better than normal condition called “dealer ready”.  So I am hoping to get a good number out of my car.  Besides that, the ticket sucks, but as much as I speed, I deserve it/ it was bound to happen.  Second day of Finance, and I have already figured out that my electives that give me an “emphasis” in that area is going to be finance.  I think that would be the most useful to me in the future.

So I’ve been to my finance class (Monday and Wednesday class) and to my accounting class (Tuesday and Thursday class).  I am not excited or thrilled, or any other fun sounding adjective you can think.  So I have one more class which I have not yet been to yet (Economics Thursday night) and I guarantee it’s not going to be fun either.  So besides that, the only other news is that the insurance company has called me back stating that they accept liability…. DUH!  So I should have an adjuster come take a look at the car in the next few days.  Fun thing of the day… Driving Justin’s new Denali, wow is that a nice car.  Makes me excited when I finally decide on my car.  I am going to take some pictures of it and put them on my flickr and link them here in a few days.  Since it is about 11:20 at night, I am going to go to bed, and read some finance to put me to sleep.  And to all the random kids out there… School is cool!  Well, maybe not, but in the long run it will increase your earning power by a huge amount.  This post has to be one of the worst ramblings I’ve had so far, so that should show you how tired I am.  More work…err… changing passwords for students in the morning.  Will post soon, NIGHT!

I’m Ethical!

Starting Thursday, I was stuck in the Business Administration Hall at TU.  I wasn’t there for my health, it was an ethics class.  After being there for 13 hours the first day, and 12 1/2 the second day, we finished it out with about 4 hours on Saturday.  We have a good speaker from Canada, and Walt Pavlo, who I’ve heard speak before.  We had to write a couple of little papers and do a presentation as a group.  All I have left is an individual assignment that’s due in a week and there’s my first MBA credit hour.  I hope I never have to do anything like that again.  It was extremely boring and pointless most of the time, and way too long.  I hope everyone had a better weekend, which isn’t hard to have.  School start tomorrow and I’m sure I’ll post how that goes.

Busy Day

Well it took a really long time to get my rental, which is a 2005 Dodge Neon.  I’m not excited by all means, but atleast it has air conditioning.  Next, I find out that the medication for Daisy is going to cost $755 for 5 weeks, so I paid for 2 weeks at $315.  Justin came home with his new Denali, which is very nice, and I will post some pictures of it due to his site having some php problems.  Lastly, I start school tomorrow morning at 7:45am and have to stay until 9pm.  Of course I’m not looking forward to this at all, and will let you know how the wonderful world of Ethics goes.  I hope everyone has a goodnight.

21-1

Well tonight I received a call from Andy to play softball.  We had two games scheduled and it seemed as though it would be a good time.  When we got there, we found out we we’re away.  We scored a run after 6 hitters and then went out into the outfield.  Well that was our only run, and it turns out the skunk rule in this league is 21.  So after 3 innings, and one at bat for myself, the game was over.  The next game was called due to no lighting, which was probably a good thing seeing as how it’s about to storm.  We didn’t play bad, they just had single after single after single, which really wore on our team.  Either way, I had a decent time, and hope to play soon (but have a longer game).  Do any of you miss playing organized sports or anything of that sort?

On a better note

Well I received some more photos of my awesome niece from my brother last night.  I added them to my flickr (you can use my link under my blogroll or just click on one of the small previews in the sidebar).  I’m dealing with insurance people right now who tell me they can’t help me, or give me another number to call, so these photos help to deal with this crap.  Enjoy the pictures!

Escaladed!
icon1 nick | icon2 Life, Rants | icon4 08 13th, 2006| icon32 Comments »

What does that mean you might ask? It is a word I’ve come up with to sum up getting hit by a Cadillac Escalade. So I was heading North on Yale right near 44, and decided to go in the very left lane since the middle lane was so backed up. I’d merge in and be fine, except for the fact this Escalade crept through and didn’t see me. I honked my horn and swerved a bit, but it didn’t do any good. So my car is a little jacked right now. Below are a few pictures I took, which are also on my flickr account. Everyone was fine, and I’ve already got a claim going for it. I’m glad no one was hurt, and also happy it wasn’t my new car. The guy was really nice, and the police wrote a nice report.
