This and That

So Justin has left for Japan, so I am free to run around the house naked.  I’m kind of jealous, the only time I’ve been out of the country was seeing Niagra falls from the Canadian side, which isn’t much of a difference.  I’m sure he’s going to have fun, and hope he gets some nice pictures.  As for me, I am trying to organize the house a bit, work, and hang out.  I now have my computer setup so I should be able to work on things now instead of watch the endless amount of movies that Cox has provided me with.  One thing I must share with everyone is the fonzi technique for fixing computers.  I have never tried it before because, quite frankly, it shouldn’t work.  My boss and I were working late on our Exchange conversion and we had a machine that randomly didn’t want to boot.  I checked the connections in the case, and everything looked fine.  He decides to give it a little hit on the side with his hand (like fonzi used to do for the lockers or jukebox, something like that) and magically it worked.  Now I am not saying that this is the best way to fix a computer, nor would I recommend it.  But having fixed and worked on computers for quite awhile, I must say that is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.  I am done with my random rant.  I will post with something with a little more substance next time.  Have a good weekend.

  1. Hello Nick.

I love you site design, and I found out that I can post in your comments instead, since I figure you will answear me. Have you graduated yet? Since on Justins blog, he refers to you as the “Graduate Student”. And please, when you get out on the porch, please wear an underwear :)

What is the talk about the house in burnt down? I can’t recall I ever did that.

One question though, I know this is might off-topic, how to make the litle banner on the bottom float with the window, instead of the bottom of the page?

Will come back later. Regards, Birger :)

  2. The site design is a template that Justin is editing. Yea I graduated in May this year, and start graduate school in August. I won’t walk outside naked, it’s just something funny to say (well I might if I am drunk). I was joking about the house burnning down, I wouldn’t be so calm as to simply write it as a comment if it did happen. I’m not sure about the banner at the bottom, but what window are you talking about floating it with? I bet Justin can answer the question or give you the code, he’s great at HTML and CSS while I am learning.

  3. AHh, okay Nick. Will do.

Hehe, I know it was a way-of-speech, but I needed to make a laugh out if it. And you are on the right track, I wonder if the vacation house for Justin had burned down or something. So they needed to cancel there trip.

The banner is floating at the bottom of the webbrowser. Not at the bottom of the site. Capche?

  4. Hey Birger, are you referring to the banner that is currently encapsulating the link to wordpress, rss feed and valid xhtml 1.0? If so, I bet you’re using.. internet exploder? if so, I am sorry — you should get fire fox..

if not, maybe you’re referring to something else, let me know.. I am in Okinawa, however you spell it, got here a few hours ago, call you soon Nick, need to poop :)

  5. I’m using firefox and I see the foating bar as well. it has a link to wordpress, rss feed, and w3.org.

Nick, I’ll be sure to keep you company while Justin is gone… I brought back some beer from Missouri so we should have some fun.

  6. Oh Jon’s back! So is Scott. Justin, I should be able to answer my phone more, I’ll explain later. Have fun in Japan. Birger, is your site down? I tried to visit it and was unable to.

  7. Justin: I am using Firefox, and I am refering to the floating black bar doced at the bottom yes :P How to make it stick to the screen?

Nick: I hate that host. Will kill them some day. Should be working now. Need to get some money on the account to change to A Small Orange and NameCheap. Since my payment is over due.
