Today was the first day I had sushi in awhile. I ordered takeout because Kim and I didn’t want to sit at the restaurant. I realized though that my taste has reappeared. I used to eat it all of the time, then I all of a sudden didn’t enjoy it as much. Maybe it was the quality, maybe it was the quantity, or maybe my taste buds just changed.
I thought that taste buds change every 7 years or something. I looked it up, and I can’t really find a definite answer. Anyhow, I remember my favorite roll, the rainbow roll. Normally the chef picks what fish go on top of a california roll. Something like tuna, yellowtail, salmon, eel, etc. But when I was ordering, I thought about all the possible new rolls that might interest me. What is your favorite roll?

I have so many favorites, one being the Chaz roll from Fuji and one I had in D.C. that was dubbed, “Monster Roll” which consisted of Tuna, salmon and avocado rolled twice in sea-weed and rice with a big crispy smoked eel tempura on top, similar to Chaz, only with Salmon and tempura unagi, yummeh!

Wow, that last one sounds really good. Wonder if we can convince someone to make that here in Tulsa.

No matter where I go I always have a california with masago, a philadelphia, and then pick something special. If I’m at Tokyo Garden I go for an Oklahoma Roll… I can’t remember what’s in it right now, but it’s fried and so, sooo good.

For some reason Scott, you love those jumbo California rolls. I can barely put the things in my mouth.

I love to go to Asahi behind Toys R Us, and I usually get a California roll without masago, avacado roll, and a baked salmon… not roll. I feel like there’s something else I get sometimes but I can’t think of it right now. I know it’s not a roll, but that baked salmon is amazing. Now I want sushi.

I’ve been there once and it was a good experience. I think when I went, the chef gave us free sushi because we were one of the only people there and he was bored or something. Either way it was good. And it may be yummy Scott, but it still is a huge freaking roll.

After trying the Oklahoma roll, I’d have to say I enjoyed it and will be ordering it next time I am at Tokyo Garden.

Even if it takes six hours to have it delivered to your table?

That was a really long time that night. Scott ate more than you and I combined, sicko.
